The World Café is a child-sized eatery where children prepare, serve and “eat” delicacies from the country being featured. Children can study real artifacts from around the world and take a bite out of culture. The artifacts are part of our O’Connell Collection, assembled over the course of 50 years by Dr. Ernestine O’Connell. The collection includes masks, textiles, dolls, puppets and more from lands such as Brazil, Kenya, Bhutan, China, Papua New Guinea, India and Sri Lanka. This exhibit is ever changing and children visit a new country every three months.
While in the World Café, children at C’mon learn: social awareness, geography, interpersonal skills, early math skills, career exploration, cultural awareness and sensitivity, object preservation and importance, music appreciation, and theatrical expression.
