The Farm

It takes a lot of people to make a farm work! Visitors at The Farm perform a number of important jobs to make sure the fruits and vegetables that make Florida such an important agricultural state get picked when ripe and delivered on time. As visitors enter the area, they spin a wheel of chance with all of the farm jobs in order to see what their job on the farm will be today… a picker? … a foreman? … a sorter? … a conveyor belt operator? … a truck loader? Two child-sized citrus trees full of pick-able oranges and grapefruits stand in one corner. A vine with heavy watermelons provides another fruit to pick. Fruit pickers fill bushel baskets and wheelbarrows and carry them to the conveyor belt. The sorting machine transfers the fruit to the Produce Market next door.
